Food For Thought
Madrid
Paris
Philadelphia
As i was about to leave Madrid, I had a strong urge to photograph the little pasta salad i was carrying with me. After all, me and this little meal were about to undergo a long journey- the only difference being that my snack would remain ignorant of everything; all the ideas swirling in my head about countries and borders and customs and crossing oceans and the like- the food has no brain to play around with such notions.
It was a small test of imagination versus reality. Is this food really going to change as it leaves one continent and enters another? My imagination was attributing all kinds of meaning to the food. I watched it go through the x-ray machine. (How was it affected by the x-ray? Can you still eat food after it has been x-rayed?)
This also helps to illustrate my belief that context always contributes to greater understanding. These photographs are boring and uninteresting. And it wasn't my intention to make photographs that other photographers or the public at large would view as works of aesthetic beauty. Here, the photographs exist only to assist in the communication of things imagined in the brain.

Back From Europe- Philly Hates Me- Still No Internet Access
Tumultous times for me right now. I would love to be giving attention to this blog, but that just isn't in the cards.
In the meantime, i am happy to announce that The Exposure Project has published some of my work on their blog. Click the link to check it out.
Check back soon for travel photos, information on the photography scene in madrid, and much more.
