Some Old Work

After discovering the Franck Juery work, i had to pull these out of the box (so similar!)....i made these photographs in 2000, probably my first ever attempt at staged photography...they were all made in what we called the bike closet of my first apartment- a narrow little space with two old wood shelves in the way back....i used little desk lamps and flash lights and mirrors and anything else i could get my hands on...the figures were found in my parents attic- from a train set i believe...

i got wonderful feedback from my professors, but, at the time, i was heavily into the work of the new topographics and such....so creating little scenes like this was not something i felt like pursuing...but looking at it now makes me want to take a bunch of objects, hole up in a closet somewhere with my camera, and make some worlds...
